Ohhhh the wonders of summer!!
The "Mrs. Plumbridge" Summer Open Day was a flying success. I was overwhelmed by all the kind and positive feedback I received from returning folks and lots of new people.
The garden was full of lovely things all the flowers were smiling at us. You felt like there was not a care in the world!!
It's funny but people always say..
"Sally this is all SO much work you have worked SO hard"
Yes it is and I have, but no one has asked me to do it, it's all my idea and how worth it all is to see people arrive with such lovely smiles and excitement on their faces.
I have never been more contented since I started up "Mrs. Plumbridge". Fundamentally it was to share my LONG time love of all that is Country Vintage and Nostalgic, I do need to recuperate money for some of the work I put in, but it seems to have become so much more than that somehow. It has given me much more than any monetary rewards. I don't know any of you who have been a part of "Mrs. Plumbridge" and if you agree in this day and age when people seem to have no time to stop and think or enjoy. It has shown me that people, on the whole, have a very joyous side to them, especially in this day and age (as I spend my life avoiding the negative changes of the age, and fight the NEW values at most corners) old fashioned loves and whims still remain and should be fought to keep!! Hence this is why "Mrs. Plumbridge" has been so well received it is that time stopping "Darling Buds of May" philosophy that strides on!
This is when the "Old Fashioned" ideals, as they would be called, are even more important. I never mind anyone coming along just having a cuppa and a piece of cake and not buying anything at all. It is just lovely to see people leave with that look of joy whether with a bagful of things or just themselves. From what I gather by SO many people's comments it's the whole ethos of sanctuary, friendliness that warms the heart.
From all this introducing "Mrs. Plumbridge" has been serendipitous ( one of my favourite words ) it has taught me so much, one most important thing is I do live a blessed life. Although I have created this "Cuckoo Land" as some would think for what ever escaping reason I am glad of it and I love it!! and it would appear that many others do too. So maybe I'm not as much of a nutcase as I always thought!!
