It's that time of year again nearing the "Mrs. Plumbridge" Summer Garden Party when I've been busying myself preparing, sewing, painting and giving old things found a new lease of life again!
To make things even better it's that time of year when the peas are climbing up the pea sticks and the runner beans are running up the poles, carrots are growing up in readiness to eat. I have put a corralling fence made out of the old bean poles I have left over to stop Lucy (my leonberger dog) treating the veg patch like a "Salad Cart" as she has been know to do in the past!! Still you can't blame her it's hard enough for me to resist munching on things prematurely!
I've laid the little stone wall at the edge, which I had been meaning to do. It gives you that self-righteous feeling when you tick off a job you have been procrastinating over (and believe me there are always plenty of those!!)
June/July is a lovely time when there are just enough things out in flower to satisfy the senses but there is still that promise of more to come!
The elderflower blossom was particularly fabulous this year!
I have been finding the usual "Mrs.P" --isms to add to my funny little fairy land I like to create here at H.Q. The other day I managed to get hold of an old tin bath form a local ebayer went and picked it up and it looks great! Dave suggested to put herbs in it... great idea, herbs it is!!
Something typically serendipitous happened yesterday, I had to pick up my mobile phone from the repair shop and they sent it flat as a pancake (typical) so to check I had everything I needed on it they had to charge it up a bit. The chap suggested I come back in about 15mins and go off and do some shopping (not keen as I'm not a shopping precinct kinda gal!!) I found a shop selling funny little bits. I came across some silly little polka dotted birdies in 4 different colours very quirky just SO me I just had to buy them!! When I got home Dave was just coming in from mowing the lawn and I sneaked outside and clipped them in the willow tree. I then shouted out "The lawn looks great darling" he came out to me under the willow tree and looked up spotted them(no pun intended) he gave me that knowing look and laughed!!
To quote one of Dave's specials " You may be high maintenance at times love but it aint ever dull"!! there you go!!
We are taking our trip to Kempton Park antiques and bric'a brac Fair on Tuesday to see what gems we can find to add to the interesting bit and bobs at the Garden Party so that will be fun!
So my thought of this blog is really it doesn't matter if it's something silly like a tin bath or even some funny little polka dot birdies ........ smile and laugh at life's unexpected!
Must crack on.... got some more sewing to do, put the bread dough in the oven and a bit of painting!
Enjoy your next few weeks and I will look forward to seeing all those coming on the 13thJuly!!
